About Assumption of Mary Catholic Church Umoja Self Help Group
Assumption of Mary Catholic Church Umoja Self-Help Group is a social economic group that has brought together over 6,450 Members who save together creating a pool from which they can borrow affordably to address their economic needs. Adults, Children, Organizations, Companies, Chama’s and/or Groups are welcome to join us.
The self-help programme is an initiative of the Archdiocese of Nairobi that encourages community members within a parish to financially help themselves through savings and borrowing. UCCSHG was registered by the archdiocese of Nairobi in 1996 and since then the group has attained a tremendous growth in terms of membership and share capital. Currently we have a membership of 7,600 members with a share capital of around 770,043,482 million.

- Integrity Umoja self-help will strive to do the right thing at all times in the presence of people or not. i.e. no misappropriation of funds or misuse of funds for personal gain.
- Professionalism We are determined to use I.T, qualified staff, good record keeping and the Strategic Plan in our operations.
- Trust Umoja self-help group will ensure it earns trust from the members and stakeholders as well as ensure they have trust in the group and have confidence in it. For success, all stakeholders must have trust in each Other.
- Confidentiality We will ensure that all activities and information pertaining to the group and members will be held and treated confidential and used for official purposes only.
- Dedication We are willing to serve members regardless of how stretching the circumstances are.
- Teamwork We will work together and build synergy by tapping into existing skills to achieve our objectives.
- Honesty We will ensure all information is honest and can be supported by facts. We will encourage members to be honest to each other more so on matters pertaining.
